Martin " 'wow' is all some people can say' " Voelker
Martin "'wow' is all some people can say'" Voelker, No-U-Turn Radio (AirwaveWEB), like the road sign
that so many people ignore, as he might say, though this is short on details
will be physically leaving the Boston/Cambridge/Medford -Gloucester and
all the other places he has been to in his recording and connecting realm)
community to work with David Barsamian, Alternative Radio
in Colorado.
{just one gripe with AR, their reference to the Search Engine of Record, and all those associated with community radio who continue referring to 'whowho, 'ola, 'verysign, 'Boston Goebbell, etc. while at times being unable to note the admission of a "peace and justice related event", and why oh why still referring to what you present as "an alternative view" - unless you qualify explicitly as an alternative to corporate media, and why not ActIndy , or what happended to Bread Hours?, Making Contact transcript: #39-99 Money: Wealth or Illusion?" , not Debt Card sponsors, etc.}
David Barsamian has received the Upton Sinclair Award..., books on South End Press .
As evident by Stan Robinson and 'others' continuity will continue and so will a reflection of reality as experienced and perceived by some who don't uncritically accept 'NRP, 'don't forget to thank our underwriters, something they actually say on air not to mention all the self assuring appraisals they give themselves and while at it Free Speech Radio News used to primarily site their own reporters (see Labor Day 2003 special), as well as various Indy Media Centers, and many others but now -eventually www.goodexample.info/samples.html will cite the all too many references to 'this corp media says' and references to the 'sunday mourning unconscious civilization shows; Stan who has more than filled in on Sunday morning (WZBC, Newton, MA) giving chance for some to standup for "four hours of attention span' as John Grebe (Sounds of Dissent who along with No-U-Turn Radio are exemplar at still being autonomous at same time while demostrating sister station connections, yet might say (and the host who I did not yet know, missed her name who was in for John did a fine interview ( Professor Steven Zunes, International Womens' Peace Service - who I don't know how he refrained from the mythical propagation by other guest in regards to ...
This is not news; neither are virtually constant weather reports, sport team sales, movie reviews, etc. Nor does this even fit into the breath allowed by international coverage of life, politics and protest as once served as a posting delimiter in IndyGlobal.
I don't think he'll miss those 'France is Next" bumphead stickers that are still around Medford. Maybe he gave up on waiting for more than a few handful of those 'Thanks for Enduring the (T)' hybrid busses.
I would usually check to make sure there wasn't already a recent Newswire posting related to Martin but....he's worth duplicating.
Hats off to Martin at least times.
Though what follows was shared via e-mail to those noted I include it here as sort of an example of one-to-many feedback & comments which at some point will primarily be intented to facilitate for those so inclined to go beyond one-to-none (no acknowlegement, etc.) commenting on so-called public radio, and their ought to be plenty to do so, for instance when they say how wonderful they are especially during 'just send us $300.00'- I suspect they value the few over the many at these sorts of support requests- how they represent the community, those corporate underwriters aren't really there, etc. and a way to respond to anyone saying how "nobody" cares where fossil fuel comes from, or that people only care about the 'price at the pumps' not the price at the cementary FSRN News Headline & Segment text/audio archive if I recall it was here that it was suggested that if the U.S. "defense" prepared for offense if the euphemism in reverse might actualy allow it to prepare for its defense, and to be critical of that which one might value but still wish to offer feedback; in this case uncritical source references to corporate media during FSRN News Headlines and segments which is far more (or used to be) out of the ordinary than say DN! The (T)hanks for enduring US transit in Boston and its nicely decorated trains with beer displays; does the T give back anything to community space for its use of such space?

It was refreshing to hear Martin rebroadcast the AR's History Matters (You Can't be Neutral...http://www.coolidge.org/s_events.html, dated but)
The title is fitting for a friend who thought, or thinks I'm out from of space because I think it does matter. I'll leave that and recount a history professor at NSCC who I believe Professor Howard Zinn was involved with his dissertation. The jist of it was after someone, a graduate in early childhood who though I was glad she mentioned Howard Zinn in class was not familar with much of the media available as noted by AirwaveWEB. The professor went on to suggest that people like Howard Zinn aren't qualified to write about "good wars" or any kind of them since they weren't in any. I quickly injected that he was a bombadeer and didn't get to saying how this experience certainly effected his later historical perspective from as Noam Chomsky might say from the point of view of the person with the boot on thier neck. But I was told this is not the case, I know it is. History doesn't repeat but it does get trampled upon.
Some quick comments Deepa Fernandes, FSRN producer:
I will later direct a more explicit note regarding my perceptions that something has drastically changed at FSRN whereby now there's uncritical references being made to corporate media as sources within news segments. Prior to this I couldn't say enough about the mix of sources which in addition to the FSRN network of reporters included, IMC sources, and many others that consistently appeared.
What became of the FSRN opening that you had that noted the 'over
fifty community radio stations - certainly thought it was more apt
and
more reflective of the various local<->global interpentable nature
of
each FSRN broadcast. It's no big deal but the citing of the FSRN
archive
seems to be quite random in its placement and some times is left out.
And
most everyone knows how to spell ".ORG"!
I'm glad to see the repeating of segment snippets at the beginning of
program
introduction appears to have been dropped. The way you usually do
it is fine.
I have been meaning to ask Stop the War Coalition to
include you
in the fine list of link references: http://www.stopwar.org.uk/links.asp.
Also at some point I will arrange www.goodexample.info/samples.html
so that it is a sort of organized like play spaces in a early
childhood
classroom; even though there's separate areas such as sand and sensory,
blocks,
dramatic, writing, drawing, etc. development of social, emotional and
much
more occurs across the areas, or as is probably more clearly described
as
"Books in the Sand Box? Markers in the blocks?" Moving
beyond a simple
expanded form of some of the many references FSRN always mentions I hope
to have a breakdown of specific areas, toxic and chemical related,
protests,
"free speech" zone infringements, etc. some form that shows the
interconnectedness
but organized even more than what "The Threat of a [www.goodexample.info]"
now offers, and the FSRN understandably sequential archive,
as fine as it
is of individual shows allows might be able to be complemented by such a
form. Also the ability to search text from within audio
files might be of
use but I never heard back from ...(I have his name elsewhere but I
appreciate
the acceptance of my thoughts on allowing the archive to be more easily
connected
to "back" and "forward
"(Return to
FSRN's news archive or FSRN's
home page.), and as much
as
I refrain generally from citing the News'dire there ability to go from
one
show segment to the other is quite handy (not that I am spending anytime
there!)
Since I am beginning to ramble as all to often happens I'll end by
saying
when I once attempted the above to allow children the opportunity "draw
in
the block area", label their buildings, write in dramatic area,
another teacher
asked, "who put these markers here!".
A snip from (www.goodexample.info/airwavewebflyer.html)
- AirwaveWEB making
more of the letters I prefer...) I plan to make it more universal,
globally
usable such that it would refer to FSRN's '"where to listen in your
areas
stations" and the same for others programs that have this, call
attention
to the need to support you all by purchasing and sharing with others
what's
available from you, and when you make transcripts accessible as you do
then
more of us could show our appreciation by Aferro (www.affero.net) and others
who I have been trying to get a click and support, or Community
Windows
(www.goodexample.info/interweb.html).
I "wish" ZNet would refrain from having a closed segment of their site
by
somehow asking the community of support to make some target monetary
goal
such that they could make this available in addition to the wealth of
information
they already have; (there's is not the place to discuss Z but I
can't figure
why they and all too many others appear to uncritically accept
"low wage"
workers as a category without mentioning the underlying reason why one
might
be inclined to describe someone or even more extensively when a
community
or even a country is described as "poor"; why do they still refer to
'alternative
media" I thought well beyond shows such as yours and many others not
being
an alternative but the norm as distinct from corporate media.

An example, of a common disinterest ads, those "ads" that don't default to corporate ones, and that also might strive towards more integration:
An excerpt from The New Crisis in Democracy:
One of the main reasons I go to give lots of talks is that it brings together people from that town or city or region who are working along pretty similar lines, or at least parallel lines, and dont have much to do with each other. If you just take Boston, there are lots and lots of groups. But they barely know about each other. The total level of participation is probably quite substantial. On the other hand, the degree of integration is slight and the degree of involvement varies. That means theres not much in the way of long-term thinking or planning or strategy.
